First Monday of May aka The MET Gala

The first monday of May is probably the most exciting day in the Fashionsphere.

Why so?

Well, it’s the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit, a black-tie extravaganza held the first Monday in May to raise money for the Costume Institute (a.k.a. the fashion department).

If there’s one red carpet you can always count on to deliver the most interesting looks when it comes to the newest trends in High-Fashion, Hair and Beauty looks, than it’s the Met Gala. This year’s theme, for both the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Costume Institute exhibition and 2017 Met Gala, was Rei Kawakubo / Comme des Garçons .

Who is the person in charge for this Extravaganza?

Ever since Ms. Anna Wintour, the editor of American Vogue and the artistic director of Condé Nast, took over as chairwoman of the Gala in 1999, she has since then,  transformed it from a local philanthropic event into the ultimate global celebrity and fashion event of the year.

Discussing my personal favorites!

HAIR GAME:

Let’s talk about the Hairgame first. Well, the Met Gala is always “THE EVENT” to check out the newest looks in fashion. So this year there were two looks to see on the carpet. First, there was the bun , sleek back hair and a very strict almost “architectural ” bun that you could see on the heads of star of the night Rihanna, or Kate Bosworth .

Second, the look that seemed to strike out was a short shoulder-length bob that a lot of ladies were wearing that night, seen on Bella Hadid, Kim Kardashian,Kylie Kardashian with her short cut plain blond wig , of course Kendall Jenner as well as surprisingly Selena Gomez and Naomi Campbell .

MAKE-UP FAV’S:

What seemed to be repeating was the bold color red and pink-red.. but not on the lips (which would not be something of a sensation in the beauty game) …instead a lot of females were wearing it on their eyes…to see on stunner Rihanna of course (1st up-runner in the trend game) Selena Gomez or fashion model Taylor Hill. And someone came with a simple red lip as well, Kendall Jenner.

BEST AND SOME CONFUSED FASHION LOOKS:

I would love to start with my favorites – None- ok well ,let’s say i was not flashed by anyones look but if i have to choose than it i liked Gigi Hadid’s look that night. She looked sophisticated ,original but still kind of avantgarde (which was the theme about) with a touch of sexy without  going basically naked like Kendall Jenner .

I like Kendall’s style but i just think for this night you have so many options to choose a dress that gets customized for you , so that you can still pay a bit gratitude to the Theme of the Met Gala .

Back to who i also liked was Candice Swanepoel, i mean this girl can wear anything, literary and she still will look like a goddess but i really liked her more elegant and “avantgarde’ black opulent dress by Topshop.

Kylie Jenner in Versace was true to herself in a metallic gown and interesting to look at but not really authentic to the theme

It seems that last years theme made such an impression on Kylie that she channeled an icon who famously stunned the Met Gala red carpet: Beyoncé.

Considering the similarities between the two creations — not to mention that both Kylie and Beyoncé paired theirs with a platinum blonde hairdo — the question is valid.

Shower of the night
